Me: “Do want to go on a bike ride?”
Ethan: “Yeah!”
Me: “OK but I have to potty first.”
Ethan: “OK, but I wish you were a boy.”
Me: “Why?”
Ethan: “So you could potty like a boy.”
Me: “Why would I want to potty like a boy?”
Ethan: “Because it’s AWESOME!”
BUT OF COURSE!

Posted in General on March 16th, 2011 by gijigogo – Be the first to commentBut it was with Ethan’s best friend!
It was another weekend of studying for me which meant another weekend of Joe being a single parent. Turns out some friends wanted to go to the Albuquerque Aquarium and Botanical Garden (check them out on kidsplayguide.com) and they brought Ethan’s best bud Isabel. I am a bit bummed I missed the trip but the pictures turned out great!
i guess i deserved that
Posted in Funny Stuff, Wifey & Mommy on March 15th, 2011 by gijigogo – 2 CommentsThis is what I get when I make it a night without TV!
The hubby is gone and so tonight I force my kid to not only put away the dishes but also help me cook dinner. So he starts ranting on about random subjects and asking a billion questions.
“Mama I like quesadillas. They are my favorite….chicken nuggets are my favorite too….how do the pans hang like that in the ceiling?”
Really? You are going to ask me that?
“Well Ethan, what do you think? Why do you ask silly questions like that?”
He responds: “Well Papa hanged that thing up (the pots and pans rack) there and those things (hooks) make the pans hang.”
So my patience is a little thin tonight because I just got slammed with a giant medical bill from have surgery a couple of weeks ago and this is after the $500 monthly medical insurance premiums–for those of you wondering I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured partially and things kind of went bad after that. But all is good in Alisa health land now. My point is, I am not the most happy person tonight and I know I told the hubby he can go play his music with his buddies, but this turned out the be a crappy night. But this entry is not meant to be a complaint….
So I am cutting a giant chicken breast in half and my son asks me:
“Mama, what is that?”
“This is chicken Ethan.”
“Really? I don’t LIKE chicken.”
“Yes, you do Ethan. This is how chicken nuggets are made. You know the ones from the refrigerator and old McDonalds?” Which means McDonalds and DO NOT judge me! You know you all do it too when you just cannot imagine yourself cooking for them that night!
“REALLY? That is how chicken nuggets are made? I did not know that! Mama, where do chickens come from? Is chicken healthy for you? I heard cookies are not healthy, but chicken is healthy. Cheese quesadillas are healthy too; and mac and cheese is healthy too. I like mac and cheese! Hmmm yum! Do you eat healthy? Papa does not eat healthy because fat is bad for him and he has a fat belly.”
And so it went on like this for a good hour. Do not get me wrong I enjoy having conversations with my kid, but again my fuse is a bit short tonight and so I had to intervene.
“Ethan, do you know that you talk a lot? And ask a lot of questions?”
“Yes, but I like to ask a lot of questions to know stuff. I just don’t know stuff. And I like talking a lot.”
“Well, Ethan, did you know that it is not very good to talk a lot?”
“I did not know that! Why?”
And here it is, the little white lies we tell our kids. Again you all do it too! So do not judge me!
“Because your tongue will fall out!”
“Really? Like this?” And he went on to try to demonstrate how the tongue would fall out. “And then you could not lick, or eat, or swallow, or even TALK? Oh my gosh mama!”
“Yes Ethan that would be the case.” A pause…
“But Mama, YOU TALK A LOT!”
I guess I deserved that….
